Researchers at Lund University are launching a new interdisciplinary tax centre to address the mounting challenges facing public finance. Digitalisation, AI and automation are making capital and labour more mobile in a borderless world, challenging current taxation principles and potentially leading to significantly lower tax revenues.
Interdisciplinary approach
The new tax centre will leverage legal, economic, technological and sociological expertise to analyse and develop the tax system of the future. The research will focus on the impact of digitalisation and globalisation on tax bases and whether – and if so, how – current tax legislation needs to be adapted. The new centre thus aims to create a platform for policy-relevant research and close collaboration between academia, government agencies and the business community.
Launch: 5 June 2025
Meet the research group behind the new tax centre initiative, the Pufendorf Theme DigiTax, on 5 June between 16:00 and 18:00 at the Pufendorf Institute for Advanced Studies, Biskopsgatan 3 in Lund. The event will be held in Swedish.
We will be serving canapés and bubbly – please register no later than 28 May: Lansering av tvärvetenskapligt skattecenter
